Facile far dell’arte una fonte d’ispirazione dichiarata a tutti i venti che soffiano sull’ideazione delle collezioni, come fosse una sorta di generosa cornucopia a cui attingere con nonchalance: ben più difficile, invece, è scegliere l’arte come affinità elettiva del proprio creare di moda, e omaggiarla con saggezza in creazioni che son sempre desiderabilissime.
Nonché rispettose della coerenza pragmatica e della piacevolezza sensuale che lo spirito Made in Usa reclama di buon diritto.
Cotanto talento caparbio nel tenere in equilibrio tali virtù è quel che distingue l’ingegno di Francisco Costa, che di Calvin Klein è ben noto Direttore Creativo Donna: e che la donna, appunto, veste di questa sintesi bellissima di coolness elegante e sofisticatezza intellettuale. Talento ribadito e applaudito anche nella Pre-Fall 2016!
Una collezione nata dalle suggestioni delle opere dell’inglese Barbara Hepworth: sculture sinuose, in cui il legno è materia viva plasmata a bilanciare pieni e vuoti, è un racconto del dialogo palpitante dell’artista con la natura, è superficie levigata e lucida, essenziale, eppur che avvolge con calore.
Francisco Costa esplora dunque quest’universo, per poi tradurlo in una collezione dalle silhouette fluide e oversize, che sfiorano la pelle in movimenti sinuosi e la svelano attraverso aperture affilate: pantaloni ampi che si accumulano generosi a terra, i capispalla protagonisti che sono opere di sartoria e architettura, il trench e l’abito coordinato pervasi da una stampa animalier sfuocata che nella poetica di Costa è quasi una sorpresa.
Quel calore delle opere della Hepworth diviene il tepore del cashmere leggero, dello shearling geometrico sul cappotto e della lana, la loro naturalezza ispira la palette concisa composta dal cammello, grigio mélange, nero e cognac, su cui si staglia improvvisa e inedita una stampa leopardata fotografica naturale.
E a corollario di tale nobile minimalismo estetico dall’essenza squisitamente intellettuale: i gioielli scultorei realizzati con la collaborazione dell’artista David Croland.

And even respectful of the pragmatic coherence and of the sensual pleasantness that the Made in Usa spirit is used to demand. Such a stubborn talent of balancing these virtues is what identifies Francisco Costa’s brilliance, that is the renowned Calvin Klein Woman Creative Director: and that dresses the woman, exactly, with this amazing synthesis of elegant coolness and intellectual refinement. A talent that is confirmed and applauded again for the Pre-Fall 2016!
A collection born from the suggestions of the art pieces belonging to the English Barbara Hepworth: sinuous sculptures, where wood is living matter shaped in order to balance full and empty spaces, it’s a tale of the beating dialogue between the artist and nature, it’s a polish and glossy surface, essential yet wrapping and warm.
Francisco Costa explored this universe and then translated it into a collection with fluent and oversized silhouettes, that touch the skin and reveal it through sharp breaches: full trousers pooling generous down, the outerwear pieces that are protagonists and shaped as architectural and tailoring artworks, the trench and the matching dress imbued with a blurred animalier print that within Costa’s poetics is almost a surprise. That warmth of Hepworth works becomes the warmth of the light cashmere, of the geometric shearling on the coat and of the wool, their naturalness inspires the brief color palette made of camel, grey, black and cognac, where suddenly stands out a natural photographic leopard-motif print.
And as a corollary of such a noble aesthetic minimalism having exquisitely intellectual substance: the sculptural jewels made thanks to the collaboration with the artist David Croland.
